About the Night
It was an enchanted evening with a very happy ending, just like in the movie “South Pacific”. Friday, May 2, Calgary, Alberta A fun filled evening that provided great entertainment with Jack Sparrow as Emcee, hula dancers – “Pearls of Polynesia”, song and dance numbers from South Pacific performed by the “Some Enchanted Singers”, champagne, activities such as the Umbrella Pull, Tiki Hut, treasure hunt and photography booth as well as lots of one of a kind or unusual auction items contributed to a successful event. Trips to Mexico, Palm Springs, San Francisco and even Africa in the live auction were snapped up as party goers, many dressed in tropical attire, watched the city get blanketed in snow as we pretended we were in Bali Hai!
Sister Gloria brought her usual warm style of welcome to all the guests, Bishop Henry entertained us with his floral green shirt instead of his usual black and delivered the blessing and swash buckling Jack emceed the evening’s program.
It was a sell out event with the crowd participating in raising over $100,000.00 net. These funds will be used toward the purchase of beds and other furniture required to transform Providence Care Centre from a building into a home.
